DOVER – The Mental Health Association in Delaware, in collaboration with the Division of Substance Abuse and Mental Health, is set to host the 24th Annual Empowering Community Wellness Symposium on Wednesday, May 7, 2025, at Bally’s Dover.

The event will feature renowned psychologist Dr. Ruth Robinson-Nelson as the keynote speaker, exploring the significance of identity formation and how it influences relationships and mental well-being.
Diverse Voices, Shared Perspectives
The symposium will feature representatives from various communities, including:
✔ Disability advocates
✔ Cancer survivors
✔ LGBTQ+ leaders
✔ Neurodivergent individuals
✔ Formerly incarcerated individuals
✔ Mental health and substance use recovery professionals
✔ Members of the Nanticoke Indian Tribe, Hispanic, and Haitian communities
Attendees will engage in discussions on identity, inclusivity, and community well-being, fostering a deeper understanding of different lived experiences.
New Mental Health Advocacy Award
During the event, the first-ever Maxine Rosenthal Award for Mental Health Advocacy will be presented. Named after Maxine Rosenthal, a former MHA board president and vice president (1998-2003), the award honors outstanding contributions to mental health advocacy.
